The Scholar Activist Approach
Director, Center for Africana Studies and Race & Social Policy Research |
The goal of Africana Studies research is to develop critical thinkers when looking at the effects of race, gender, class, and culture on the life chances and life experiences of all people in general and people of African descent in particular. The activities of the Center are derived from the principles of the Scholar-Activist approach. Our teaching, research and outreach are guided by a commitment to centered scholarship that may be used by African-descended people in their pursuit of empowerment and improved life chances. |
